Seafish Friers Quality Award
Britz has been awarded the prestigious Seafish Friers Quality Award for excellent standards.
Local friers, who run Britz Takeaway and Diner, have taken away a top Quality Award from the Sea Fish Industry Authority (Seafish). The Seafish Friers Quality Award is presented to friers who meet exacting standards of quality throughout their business, from good fish and chips to helpful, friendly staff, high levels of hygiene, and good practices in handling and cooking food.
Richard Chivers, Seafish Quality Assurance Adviser, who inspected the shop said, "The inspection is very thorough indeed covering all aspects of the business. Around 200 points are inspected including approximately 40 temperature checks. Customers who see the Friers Quality Award symbol in their local fish and chip shop can be assured that everything has been checked – even behind the scenes. Only fish and chip shops which meet our requirements will get the award, but I'm pleased to say that Britz certainly demonstrated very high standards and, of course, great fish and chips!"
Britz were presented their Quality Award certificate, and logo to display in the shop, by Richard himself on Thursday 9th December.
To ensure that the high standards of the Award are maintained, Seafish Quality Assurance Advisers will visit the shop regularly to do spot checks.
